How to Vote

Make your voice heard in the referendum on Tuesday, May 14

Option 1: Vote in person on Election Day

Election Day is Tuesday, May 14. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. All poll locations are the same as for primaries and general elections.

All voters must be registered to vote before casting their ballot. You can register to vote before May 14 and save time on Election Day. If you forget to register before Election Day, Minnesota allows same-day voter registration.

Option 2: Vote early from home via absentee ballot

Residents can request an absentee ballot by submitting the absentee ballot application found here. When completing your the ballot application, check the “5/14 Special Election” option in Line 1.

Voters in the townships of Gnesen, Lakewood, Normanna, North Star, and the City of Rice Lake and unorganized precincts 2 and 23 should submit completed absentee ballot applications to:

Completed absentee ballots should be submitted to the same office as ballot applications. Ballots can be submitted in person or by mail. Ballots must be received by Tuesday, May 14 at 8:00 p.m. to be counted.

Option 3: Vote early in person

In-person early voting is available through Monday, May 13.

Voters in the townships of Gnesen, Lakewood, Normanna, North Star, and the City of Rice Lake and unorganized precincts 2 and 23 can vote early in person at the District Service Center between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
